Our Data Dashboards are your go-to resource for exploring key information about children and youth in out-of-home care in Nebraska. These dashboards provide up-to-date, interactive data and demographics by agency involvement and geographic location. How does it work:

  • Trained volunteers from 54 community-based review boards conduct case reviews and submit findings
  • FCRO staff track each child’s case through an independent data system, capturing data on placements, services, court involvement, and outcomes
  • The data is aggregated, analyzed, and regularly updated every three months to reflect system-wide trends

At FCRO, our data governance mission drives meaningful change for children and families. We carefully collect, protect, and use high-quality data that stakeholders — including the Nebraska State Legislature — system partners, and communities, can fully trust. By ensuring data is complete, consistent, and accurate, we support agency goals while reducing security risks and preventing misuse. Our commitment to continuously improving data quality, security, and privacy ensures compliance with all statutes and keeps every record confidential. This foundation allows data to guide agency initiatives, inform policymaker recommendations, and enable decision-making that leads to better outcomes and brighter futures for every child and family we serve.

Principles of Data Governance

Main principles of our data governance include:

  1. Maintain confidentiality of all records of children and youth in out-of-home (foster) care in accordance with Neb. Rev. Stat. §43-1310.  
  2. Store children and youth’s data securely on a secure database developed and managed in partnership with the OCIO. 
  3. Adhere to all Data Use Agreements (DUAs), Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and confidentiality agreements when working with internal and external system partners. 
  4. Ensure no data is released or reported in a manner that will allow the identification of any individual child, parent, provider or any other personal identifiable information (PII). 
  5. All data sharing is done securely using ShareFile (platform designed and used for secure document sharing). 
  6. Ensure all guidelines and procedures developed are followed and applied by staff. 
  7. No use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools without written consent from FCRO leadership to ensure compliance with NITC 8-609.
